Draping, Flowers, and Lighting
You’ve toured some wedding venues during the week and you just haven’t found the space that feels perfect for you. Is it because you’re having a hard time picturing what the space will look like when it’s decorated? Are the plain walls putting up a wall in your mind? Let’s look at how you can make a space uniquely yours.
All photos of the event I’m sharing were taken by: Hunter LaShea Photography.
Draping
One of the most impactful decoration methods is draping. You can completely transform a space where it is unrecognizable from its previous state.
Maybe you are wanting to soften the space. Using soft textiles like chiffon, organza, or voile can make your wedding or reception feel luxurious and romantic. When you drape the ceiling, you lose some height in the room but it creates a cozy space.
Draping adds color in an impactful way. Using a rich fabric can create a grand entrance. If your room has lots of wood, adding a pale color like a soft ivory can lighten the space. You can go bold with color to add drama. This can go so many different directions.
To create this look, the couple rented items from All Occasions Party Rentals and Say I Do Event Rentals.
Do you love the look of twinkling lights? Maybe you should consider using sheer panels combined with string lights to create that beautiful evening glow. If you are doing this yourself, don’t forget to consider the color of the wiring so that it won’t show through your fabric!
You can even use draping outside. A wooden structure can support loose panel draping to create a room sort of feeling while still bringing in the outdoors. Let your imagination run when you start to think of draping.
Flowers
Weddings and flowers go hand in hand. These can be used in so many different ways to make the space truly yours. Maybe you want a simple reception look with bud vases on the tables. Or maybe you want a grand flower arch. There are so many possibilities.
When you are designing centerpieces for your tables, consider if any will impede vision or conversation around the table. This may mean to keep the flowers under a certain height or to elevate the height above guests’ faces when sitting. You want your guests to have fun. Being able to talk at dinner is part of that experience. This wedding used Simply Yours for flowers and vases.
If you want to stay within budget, pick flowers that are in season. These will be most cost effective so that you can get more bang for your buck.
Lighting
You want your wedding to feel romantic. Lighting plays a big part in the ambiance. Soft lighting from lots of candles creates this experience. Candles can be placed all around the reception: on tables, in centerpieces, in lanterns, etc. Mirrors can be used to reflect this light and make a bigger impact. Incorporate string lights to enhance the soft lighting.
This event used uplighting by Midas Entertainment and a neon sign from Osmar Creations Ventura Mateo.
If your evening reception has an outdoor space, add candles along walkways and consider string lights in trees. This will expand your space and enhance the romantic atmosphere.
Regardless of your desired look, you may want to consider including a wedding coordinator. This wedding leveraged B’s Custom Occasions. Your coordinator will help you streamline all of the vendors you are using during the wedding weekend.
You can put together a beautiful romantic wedding and reception with the right decor. If you are considering ways to enhance our space here at The Carriage House, I’d love to share with you some things I’ve seen here on the property. We have some different props available to our couples to help you create the romantic event of your dreams.
All my best,
